Passing the Paintbrush Art-Workshop : Gertrude Sandmann

On Sunday, September 22 from 13-16 will be a hands-on practical arts and history „Passing the Paintbrush“ workshop about Gertrude Sandmann in the Spinnboden Lesbian Archive.
Participants will learn the life story of Gertrude Sandmann, a Jewish Lesbian Berliner who survived during NS times and the Shoah by living underground and with the help of her friends, lovers, and lesbian community. During the workshop, you will get a chance to make your own artworks in charcoal and pastels guided by a guest artist and inspired by the incredible works by Sandmann that will be shared in the history presentation.
Anyone who wants to learn more about Gertrude Sandmann and charcoal art is welcome to attend, all abilities and backgrounds welcome, ages 18+. No artistic experience is necessary, all supplies are provided.
Covid tests and masks are mandatory and provided. The workshops will be held in English, a translation into German can be organized if required.
